THE WOMEN
The Women//
A physical theatre adaptation of the classical Grecian play 'The Trojan Women' by Euripides.
The piece is placed in a dystopic world where war, hatred, and political injustice has ravished a once great nation. There in an old storage room, the four great women of the nation sit and wait to hear their fate. As these great women delve into each other's pain and suffering, the echoes of their classical Grecian self's act as the chorus, whispering the fear and acknowledgement that these atrocities are happening once again.
The piece explores the oscillation between classical, modern and contemporary forms of narration, the use of the body, versus the voice, the still dancer and the role of the woman and the power and destruction of community, politics and emotion.

"A gorgeous and thought provoking piece which left everyone in the audience in tears... The power behind a still watching figure breaking down live on stage in front of a group of women's torment brought a new life to this often overlooked story"
